Fall Prevention in Lakewood.

Steady is not luck. It is strength, balance, vision and reaction time working together. We find which one is letting you down, then train it back.

Balance & gait Home hazard review Talk to a Specialist

What It Is

Balance is a skill. Skills can be trained.

You have started holding the rail. You take the long way round to avoid the step. Maybe there was already a stumble you have not mentioned to anyone. That caution is sensible, and left alone it quietly shrinks your life down to the rooms you trust.

Fall risk is never one thing. We look at three groups: the physical, meaning balance, coordination, muscle strength, mobility, posture and gait. The environmental, meaning lighting, trip hazards, the bathroom setup and how the furniture is arranged. And the medical, meaning conditions, vision or hearing changes, and medications that affect your balance.

Then we treat what is trainable and flag what is not. Strength work, dynamic balance training, gait and posture correction, endurance. No medication, no procedure. The risks that belong to another doctor, we name plainly so you can take them there.

What It Helps

What is actually making you unsteady.

Most people who fall have more than one reason. We go looking for all of them.

What A Session Looks Like

Thirty to sixty minutes, three moves.

1

We test balance, strength and how you walk.

2

We walk through the risks waiting at home.

3

You train the system that is failing you.

Why It Works

Independence, kept.

Stairs stop being a decision.

Getting out of a chair stops being an event.

You walk the block again, not just the hallway.

Your kids stop hovering every visit.

Questions, Answered

The practical answers, before you book.

It depends on how many of your risk factors are trainable, which is exactly what the evaluation is for. As a general guideline, 2–3 visits a week for 4–6 weeks gets the most out of a plan, and sessions run 30–60 minutes. A guideline, never a guarantee. You will get a plan with an endpoint, not an open-ended standing appointment.

Often, yes. We accept 14 insurance plans plus all PPOs, and we are specialists at working with Medicare. Coverage always depends on your individual plan and your medical need, so we verify your exact benefits first. You will know the number before you commit to anything.

Usually not. California Direct Access lets you be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without a physician sign-off for up to 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first. Some plans still ask for one. Call us at (562) 512-3320 and we will tell you exactly where you stand.
